About
As an artist I connect most with utilitarian textiles - blankets & quilts, household linens, clothes, and bags. I love combining a modern design aesthetic with traditional techniques and processes to create beautiful, timeless, and useful goods. I am an avid researcher and enjoy learning through the textile artists that have come before me. The collection of quilts shown here draws inspiration from the indigo dyed patterns of the Mende weavers of Western African and 19th century weavings of the American Navajo. Right now I am inspired by British Constructivists textile designers of the 1930s with their lovely block printed fabrics and restrained use of pattern. I am currently working on a line of household linens that celebrate the convergence of utility, simplicity, and beauty.
